Tracking Waterfowl with the Nikon D7200 and Sigma 150–600mm
When I arrive at a location, I like to take a few moments to get my bearings. I never rush anymore. In the past, I’d hurry to set up my camera to avoid losing the light, which often left me stressed and less engaged with the scene. These days, I accept the moment for what it is—whether I arrived early or not, I make the most of what I have.
I decided not just to focus on close-ups of the wildlife but also to tell the story of the area. I used my iPhone for wide, establishing shots and the Nikon for detailed close-ups of the ducks and geese. I walked around, observing the environment and noting small details that would help convey the narrative of the park.
